Marshall Taylor, son of FEC Canon Phil Taylor, wants to help hid friend and hockey teammate, Connor Johnson, fight Childhood Cancer by raising money for the St. Baldrick's Charity. American Legion Gives Vicar Phil Taylor Award For Scholarship Fund-Raiser

College Hockey Game Raises $6014.68 For American Legion Legacy Scholarship
Over a year ago The Rev. Philip R. Taylor had an idea to raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund. He contacted the college club hockey teams at The Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel and asked if they would play each other in a charity game in the Raleigh, NC area. The Citadel Hockey Club from Charleston, SC and The VMI Hockey Club from Lexington, VA traveled to Wake Forest, NC on December 6, 2008. Vicar Phil, a VMI alumnus along with alumni from both schools cooperated to sell tickets and get donations. The event was a huge success and $6014.68 was raised for the scholarship fund. On Februray 21, 2009 a check was presented at the NC American Legion Mid-Winter Conference (See picture on right). The Legacy Scholarship benefits the children of armed forces personnel killed on active duty since 9/11/2001. Vicar Phil, a life member of American Legion Post 132, was presented with a plaque congratulating him for his efforts. The plaque was signed by the American Legion National Commander. Vicar Phil told the assembled American Legion members, "We are already planning for the next college hockey fund-raiser and hope to double the amount raised for this worthy scholarship program."

Lee Barrett announced, "We will be setting up a resource table for St. James Mission (and the FEC) at the 2009 Pride & Joy Families Weekend Conference, which is taking place April 24-26 at the Radisson Hotel in Utica, NY. Jennifer Chrisler of the Family Equality Council will be delivering the keynote address. We will also have an ad in their program." With joy we announce the arrival of Susanna Day Lee! Susanna was born on Saturday, 13 December 2008 at 638pm in Rome NY. She measured 20 inches and weighed 7 pounds 10 1/2 ounces. Her proud parents are FEC Vicar J. Barrett Lee and The Rev. Sarah Schmidt-Lee. Mother and baby are doing well and are expected home Monday afternoon. Vicar Barrett is ecstatic! Susanna is the perfect Christmas gift!

Philip Marshall Taylor Confirmed by Bishop Albrecht
Over 70 friends and family attended the Confirmation Service on Sunday, October 5th in Selma, NC. FEC Presiding Bishop Sherrie Albrecht laid hands on Philip Marshall Taylor at the Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church. Marshall asked several family members and friends to participate in his confirmation. Bishop Albrecht asked Marshall's father, The Rev. Philip R. Taylor, to be the preacher. The collection taken during the service was donated to Mount Olive College and The Free Will Baptist Childrens Home.

Jonathan Barrett Lee ordained to the Priesthood
The new priest's hands are anointed.
Family and friends from seven states gathered in Selma NC on Saturday, 4 October 2008, to celebrate the ordination of J. Barrett Lee to the Sacred Priesthood in the Free Episcopal Church.
Vicar Barrett was presented to the bishop for ordination by Canon Phil Taylor, Deacon Steve McMillin, Rev. Carroll Hutcheson (his uncle), and long-time friend Reed Thomas. His aunt, Faith Hutcheson, and his mother, Jane Lee, read the scripture lessons. The Veni Sancte Spiritus was sung by Barrett’s+ wife, Rev. Sarah Schmidt-Lee. His father, Gene Lee, and father-in-law, Rev. John Schmidt, vested him in priestly garb. Barrett’s+ father, his brother, Jordan, and his sister, Rachel Lee Stuart provided the music for the ceremony. Marshall Taylor served as the acolyte. Thomas Stuart and Melanie Myers Lee were the ushers. The Right Reverend Sherrie Albrecht, Presiding Bishop of the Free Episcopal Church, officiated at the service.
We thank Rev. Frank Grubbs and the people of the Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church for their hospitality and the use of their scared space for this special event.
Kudos and thanks also go to Deacon Ruby Taylor and her helpers for co-ordinating and serving spectacular refreshments to Barrett’s+ guests and making sure we had lovely flowers for the ceremony.

Marshall Taylor - Bilateral Kidney Disease
Vicar Phil's son, Marshall, has been diagnosed with bi-lateral kidney disease and will soon need a kidney transplant. Keep Marshall and his family in your prayers. His Aunt Karen will be his donor when the doctors say that Marshall is ready. Deacon Phil Ordained Priest
4 December 2004 - Presiding Bishop Sherrie L. Albrechtordained Philip R. Taylor as Priest in the FEC at the Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church, Selma, NC. Seventy friends, family, and clergy from three other denominations attended and joined in celebrating Phil's ordination to the priesthood. Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Original Free Will Baptist clergy joined in the laying on of hands at the invitation of Bishop Albrecht. At the celebration of his first Eucharist as priest, Phil asked these same clergy to join him and Bishop Albrecht at the communion table for the blessing of the elements. Pictures of the event can be viewed at this link. Marshall, Phil's youngest son, served as the Bishop's chaplain. Susan, Phil's wfe, and Marshall vested Phil after the laying on of hands.

FEC's 2nd Presiding Bishop Consecrated
9 October 2004 - The FEC's members and friends gathered at St. Thomas UMC in Glen Ellyn, Il., to celebrate the consecration of Rev. Vicar Sherrie Albrecht as the second Presiding Bishop of the Free Episcopal Church. The FEC's founding bishop, Rt. Rev. Rob Angus Jones, presided at this celebration, at which he also invested Bishop Albrecht with the crozier of the Office of Presiding Bishop. Pictures of the consecration can be viewed at this link.
